PART II: The Classical American Outdoors Camp at The Beardslee Homestead

July 19-25

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Montfort Academy has partnered with The Beardslee Homestead in beautiful upstate New York to offer a unique summer camp experience for kids of all ages. This classical American outdoors summer camp includes activities like blacksmithing, knife-making, woodworking, orienteering, archery, rifle target practice, fire-pit cooking, organic agriculture, sustainability, wind and solar energy, astronomy, animal husbandry, gardening, metal-detecting, and honey production.  Fun free-time activities include fishing, hiking, swimming, kayaking, river tubing, and so much more.

Camps are limited to 10-20 students each session. Students live in a converted cow barn dormitory underneath an astronomical observatory, and have access to the entire 120-acre property, including the library which contains more than 1,000 volumes about American history, Western civilization, science and astronomy, agriculture, and more as well as an antique map collection. On hand in the library are also copies of The Dangerous Book for Boys and The Dangerous Book for Girls, the Hillsdale College American Heritage Reader, Frederick Hayek's The Fatal Conceit, and more.

The Beardslee Summer Camp is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to experience real American life of the past that, at the same time, is connected to the future. Ten days at the hands-on Beardslee Summer Camp provides real-life experience, professional formation and skills, introduction to colleges and universities in Upstate New York like Cornell, Colgate, and SUNY Binghamton as well as introduction to the college admissions process, and just plain and innocent fun.  Distinguished leaders stop by the farm to say hello to the kids and offer life-changing inspiring stories and lessons of leadership and ethical values.
