THE 2024 ANNUAL APPEAL

The Cultivation of Human Happiness

The Montfort Academy's primary objective has always been to lead our students to Our Lord Jesus Christ and to help prepare them to become Saints with Him in Heaven. Since ultimate human happiness is achieved in Heaven, we can also say, in other words, that Montfort's primary mission is to cultivate true and eternal human happiness. Montfort lives out this mission through a four-year formation in the Catholic faith that includes daily prayer, weekly Mass, bi-weekly Eucharistic Adoration and Rosary. In their intellectual preparation, Montfort Knights experience four years of Theology, one year of Philosophy, two years of Chivalry for boys, and two years of Christian Womanhood for girls.  A Montfort education is more than an education; it is four years of character development through the continuous study and practice of virtue.

2023 ANNUAL APPEAL

A Unique Opportunity to Grow

It is more blessed to give than to receive.

—-Acts of the Apostles 20:35

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ON GIVING TO THE ANNUAL FUND

The 2023 Annual Appeal aims to raise funds that will allow Montfort to rent the vacant convent next door to our Academy. The convent will allow Montfort to add a library, reading room, and up to four additional classrooms. This added space will allow Montfort to increasse enrollment by up to 80 students over four years. This is a truly unique opportunity for Montfort to grow—but not too much—so that we maintain our family-oriented environment, where every student knows one another, and teachers and students are bound by the Mortar that Matters. The library and reading room will be classically appointed with beautiful furniture and bookshelves, befitting a classical Catholic Academy.

For a gift of $100 or more, you will receive a box of 20 beautiful assorted Christmas cards designed by our Montfort Knights. Nina Khrapunova, Class of 2025, has drawn a beautiful image of the Blessed Mother; and members of Ms. Schein's art class have drawn and painted renditions of the Nativity.  For a gift of $50 or more, you will receive a beautiful porcelain Christmas ornament featuring the artwork of two of our very talented Montfort Knights, Lucia Bautista ('22, Magna cum laude, In cursu honorum) now at the prestigious Pratt Institute on a Trustee Scholarship and Malena Sullivan ('22, Summa cum laude, In cursu honorum, Laurea linguarum classicarum, Class Valedictorian) now at Fordham University on the Maurice and Carolyn Cuniffe Presidential Scholarship. As is our custom, we also invite all benefactors of Montfort to our Annual Solemn Advent Vespers on Thursday December 7th at 7:00 pm, the Vigil of the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception.

In this Advent Season as we prepare to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, be assured of our continued prayers and offering of Holy Mass for you and your families.

2023 ANNUAL APPEAL

VESPERS 2023, DECEMBER 7, 2023. OUR WAY OF SAYING THANK YOU TO OUR DONORS AND BENEFACTORS!

2022 ANNUAL APPEAL

Annual Fund

The annual fund is vitally important, as tuition alone is not enough to cover all of Montfort's costs of educating our students. One hundred percent of the annual fund supports faculty and staff in the classroom. Many of our students are economically disadvantaged, and we off them tuition credits that are funded through our annual fund. Our annual goal is $650,000, and no gift is too small. For large gifts, we are pleased to offer the opportunity to name in perpetuity our building, classrooms, and special programs in honor of you or someone you love, living or deceased.

Adopt-a-Scholar Program

This program provides you with an opportunity to endow a perpetual or annual scholarship in your name or the name of someone dear to you. The perpetual scholarship is awarded every four years, while the annual scholarship is a one-time four-year grant. Half and full annual scholarships are funded at $7,500 and $15,000. Perpetual Scholarships are funded at $250,000.

Partnership-in-Education Program

The Columbus Citizens Foundation is a not-for-profit foundation that provides scholarships to need students of Italian-American descent. The Columbus Citizens Foundation and The Montfort Academy have agreed to match your gift 2:1 in cash and tuition credits. A gift of $5,0000 annually for four years will provide a full scholarship of $15,000 to one of our Italian-American students under this program.

Planned Gifts

We can also provide you with information about life income plans that will benefit you, as well as the academy. For example:

Gift Annuities

You irrevocably transfer cash or securities to the academy in exchange for our promise to pay you a fixed amount annually for the rest of your life. The annual amount is determined by the amount of your gift and your age. Once established, your income remains constant. Part of your income is tax-free and you may claim a charitable contribution for a part of the amount transferred.

Charitable Remainder Trusts

In exchange for your gift of cash, securities, or other property, you can receive income for yourself and/or anyone you select for life, or for a specified term, not to exceed 20 years. You can claim a charitable contribution for the present value of your future gift to The Montfort Academy.

Charitable Lead Trusts

Your transfer of cash or securities to a lead trust pays a percentage of the value of the trust assets to Montfort, usually for a term of years. At the end of the term, the remaining assets and any growth are passed to your named beneficiary. Although there is no income tax deduction upon creation, your gift or estate tax is greatly discounted and any growth is passed on to your beneficiary gift and estate tax free.

2021 ANNUAL APPEAL

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ON GIVING TO THE ANNUAL FUND

We offer Mass each week for our benefactors, and our students pray daily for them, too.  We also host an annual Evening of Vespers to say thank you to all those who participate in our Annual Fund Drive and who help us throughout the year.  This year, Vespers will be held on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at 7:00 pm in our Chapel.  Come and hear our very own student and faculty Schola Cantorum sing hymns in Gregorian Chant and Renaissance Polyphony in this ancient Church tradition.
