The Montfort Academy Commemorates September 11th

The Montfort Academy held its annual commemoration of Patriots Day, with a special flag raising ceremony. Montfort’s tradition is that each graduating class presents the school with a gift of a new American Flag. On September 11th, the old flag is retired as TAPS plays in memory of those we lost on September 11th and in the subsequent War on Terrorism. The new flag is blessed and then raised as a student sings the National Anthem. This year, the retired flag was presented to the City of Mt. Vernon Police Department in gratitude for all they do to keep our community safe.
