40 Nationalities and Counting at International Night!
In its 2020 rankings, Niche.com gave Montfort an A+ and ranked our school the number one diverse private school in Westchester County. There is no surprise since our student body of just about 140 students represents at least 40 nationalities and ethnicities. This rich cultural heritage came together at our Annual International Night, to which families bring trays and trays of ethnic foods, desserts, and drinks. It is one of Montfort’s most beloved events. This year nearly 200 people were present, requiring our students to bring in extra tables and chairs.
This year, too, we had live music and singing from the Caribbean, Latin America, and Ireland. Our very own Jerry O’Sullivan, a grammy award winning musician, played to Irish bag pipes and surprised the party with his rendition of the school’s Alma Mater, The Glory of the Blue and Gold. Students joined in singing this poignant ballad.
The countries represented by Montfort’s student and faculty body include (not in alphabetical order):
Chile, Colombia, Haiti, St. Lucia, Belgium, Italy, Jordan, Corsica (France), Philippines, Estonia, Lithuania, Jamaica, Lebanon, Joran, Portugal, Brazil, Ghana, Greece, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Trinidad, Spain, Peru, Ecuador, Mexico, India, Albania, Republic of Georgia, Ukraine, Russia, Germany, Turkey, Japan, Korean, Poland, Israel, Ireland, El Salvador, Sweden, and many other African heritages.
