Montfort Marches for Life
More than 40 Montfort students and alumni travelled to Washington, DC on Friday January 19th to march in the Annual March for Life. This has been a tradition for Montfort ever since the school was founded, and over the years hundreds of Montfort students have joined thousands of other students throughout the United States in this annual show of support for life. So many Montfort students attend that it is a day off from school, built into our school calendar.
Students slept overnight at Montfort in an evening of fun including Open Gym, TV, games, and other activities. They awoke early and left by 5:00 am. They arrived in Washington with plenty of time to walk to the mall, meet up with Montfort alumni, walk with priests and nuns along the way including keynote speaker Sister Bethany (who previously was a guest speaker at Montfort), listen to other speakers such as the President and Vice President of the United States, and many others. The day ended with a visit to the Supreme Court of the United States and the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception at Catholic University, where a group of 6 Montfort alumni currently attend the Honors Program.
The group returned home at midnight, inspired by stories of love and life.
Montfort is grateful to the Mary Clancy Foundation for supporting our Pro Causa Vitae club and our trip to Washington.
