CLASSIC AMERICAN OUTDOOR SUMMER CAMP
July 20-24, 2024
FAITH FELLOWSHIP FRIENDSHIP
The Montfort Academy has partnered with The Beardslee Homestead, a 120-acre historic property in beautiful upstate New York, to offer a unique summer camp experience for Montfort Knights. This summer leadership camp includes activities like blacksmithing, knife-forging, orienteering, archery, fire-pit cooking, organic farming, sustainability, wind and solar energy, astronomy, chicken-tending, beekeeping, and honey production. Free-time activities include fishing, hiking, swimming, kayaking, river tubing, sports, and much more.
The camp is limited to 14 students. Boys sleep in the 1785 Tavern (on the National Register of Historic Places), and girls sleep in the main 1810 Manor House, also on the National Register of Historic Places. All students have access to the entire 120-acre property, including the library which contains more than 1,000 volumes about American history, Western civilization, science and astronomy, agriculture, and more as well as an antique map collection. On hand in the library are also copies of The Dangerous Book for Boys and The Dangerous Book for Girls, the Hillsdale College American Heritage Reader, and Frederick Hayek's The Fatal Conceit about entrepreneurism.
The Beardslee Homestead is just minutes away from the Catholic pilgrimage site of Rosa Mystica in Edmeston, NY, where daily Mass, Holy Hour, and Rosary are offered. Rosa Mystica has a museum of holy relics from more than 100 saints. It is also close to the Cooperstown Baseball Hall of Fame.
