Montfort Boys Soccer Victory over EF

September 29, 2019, Feast of St. Jerome

FLASH NEWS ITEMThe Montfort Academy proudly announces that its boys' soccer team defeated its long-time rival EF Academy in a nail-biting first soccer game of the season. The final score was 3 to 2, with the winning goal scored in the last second of the game. This is the first victory against EF Academy in ten years. EF Academy, an international boarding school in Thornwood, NY with students from all over the world, has long been the league's undefeated champion. Montfort Knights, past and present and around the country were cheering as the word spread quickly over social media.

Congratulations to the entire team, especially Rodrigo Araujo with two goals including one diagonal kick in the last second of the game, Jaden Prado with one goal, and Ronan Lehane, the "impassable" center defender. Congratulations also to coach Nicola DiFiore, who has been the team's coach for the past ten seasons. Coach DiFiore said in true classical fashion, "For more than ten years we have had to comfort our Fighting Knights, but not tonight. We have finally crossed the Rubicon."

Congratulations Montfort Knights.
