GRADUATION 2019 SPECIAL EDITION CONGRATULATIONS CLASS OF 2019
The 14th Commencement Exercises of The Montfort Academy took place on Friday evening June 7, 2019. From Aristotle's Nicomachean Ethics to the Gospel of St. Matthew, the wisdom of the ancient Greeks and Romans, God's revelation to the Israelites, and their encounter with the Truth, Goodness, and Beauty of our Roman Catholic faith, Montfort graduates evoked their four years of classical education, describing transformation of mind, body, and soul and challenging themselves to live lives of virtue.
Aristotle says happiness is the end of human existence. . . If Montfort has taught us anything, happiness is found in the pursuit of the good, the true, and the beautiful, leading a life of purpose and meaning.
--Stephanie Karam, Salutatorian, Offering the Welcome Address.
Fellow Graduates, I am called to charge you, to challenge you to set forth our mission. Let that challenge be this: In all things, think, speak, and act with kindness and love. Let us follow Christ by loving God with all our hearts, all our minds, and all our souls, and loving one another as ourselves...Ad majoram Dei gloriam.
--Alyssa Seonairain, Valedictorian, Delivering the Valedictory Farewell.
Therefore, do not be anxious, saying "What shall we eat?" or "What shall we drink?" or "What shall we wear?" For the Gentiles seek all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first his Kingdom, and all these things shall be yours as well.
Amici, hic est nostra education Montfortensis et noster futurus: provcare nos ipsos ad maiorem virtutem cum gaudio. Nolite timere tendi. Estote fideles, sequimini vestra spes certate pro bonis, nolite desere, et mutate mundum. --Thomas Curro, Delivering the Joel L. Shin Latin Oration
Friends, this is what our Montfort education was and what our future will be: challenging ourselves to higher levels of excellence and virtue and doing so with joy. You have nothing to fear. Be confident, follow your dreams, fight for what is right, never give up, and go and change the world.
Commencement Speaker and Montfort Trustee Joseph Schenk offers three simples lessons of life to Montfort Knights: Show Up, Be Engaged, and Love God.
The Class of 2019, following the tradition of classes before it, presented Montfort with the Senior Class Gift of a new American Flag, to be flown on September 11, 2019 to pay tribute to all servicemen and women and to inaugurate the new school year.
